Alex Revell will be hoping to tap into the experience of one of football’s most experienced managers to help Stevenage climb the table again.

Stevenage chairman Phil Wallace questioned the integrity of the English Football League over plans to impose promotion and relegation in a truncated season.

The EFL has rejected calls from League Two clubs to scrap relegation – meaning Stevenage’s survival hopes hang on a further points deduction for Macclesfield Town.

Stevenage have been handed a lifeline to their Football League status after League Two clubs “asked for consideration to be given to suspending relegation to the National League”.

Stevenage will finish bottom of the table after the League Two season was brought to an early conclusion – but they are still sweating over their Football League status.
