An outline planning application has been submitted to build up to nine new homes in Knebworth.
If permission is granted by North Herts Council, the homes would be built on land on the western edge of the village, behind an existing detached property in Park Lane.
The existing house would remain as it is, and the driveway would become an access road onto Park Lane for the newly built homes.
Provisional designs submitted as part of the outline planning application suggest that all nine of the new homes would be detached. However, the provisional layout can be changed at a later date, and the application does not provide details of how many bedrooms each property would have.

The current plans include two car parking spaces and an electric vehicle charging point for each property.
The site is not part of the Green Belt, and is directly adjacent to two further sites that have been allocated for development as part of the North Herts Local Plan 2011-31. Those two sites, known as KB1 and KB2, would have a total of 384 homes built on them - part of a total of 759 homes allocated for Knebworth.
Pre-application advice was sought in 2022, and the applicant says that they were told that "the proposed development is considered to be acceptable in principle in this location", based on its closeness to the KB1 and KB2 sites.
