Early years practitioner Jane Maddern is retiring after 32 years at York Road Nursery in Hitchin, where she was "an integral part" of the community.
Colleague Melissa Jeeves said: "She has been an integral part of our York Road Nursery community and has taught hundreds of children, and gone on to teach their children too.
"We have been blessed to have had her at York Road for so long.
"On behalf of the governing body and Diane Frainer, the headteacher, we would like to say a huge thank you for a lifetime of commitment to York Road. She will be much missed.
