As part of its 90th anniversary celebrations, a Letchworth school has announced four new scholarships.

St Francis' College new "Access Awards", available from September 2024, will offer up to 100 per cent tuition and boarding for exceptional students.

As part of the new scheme, a 60 per cent discount will be automatically applied for the four students who are "exceptionally academically or creatively able", while a means tested further discount of up to 40 per cent will also be available.

The scheme is available to anyone in the UK who wishes to join the college, as full-time boarders in Years 7 or 8.

The successful students will stay at the school until the end of Year 13, when they finish sixth form.

St Francis' College is an all-girls school and sixth form based in Broadway.

James Nichols, head of the college, said: “St Francis’ College is proud to have been providing an exceptional education to pupils since 1933.

"As part of our 90th anniversary celebrations, we want to expand our contribution to society by offering the opportunity to access an education at the college irrespective of where students are currently based.
