Three Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire postcodes have won £1,000 on the People's Postcode Lottery in August.

Locations in Watford, Borehamwood and Stotfold were all successful on the competition.

Each month, those who partake in the lottery pay £12 to have the chance to win up to £30,000.

A share of £3 million or more is awarded to "Postcode Millions" winners, while book vouchers and smaller £10, £15 and £20 prizes can also be won.

A number of postcodes are selected at random to win every day.

Last month (July 2023), five Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire postcodes were successful.

Just two Herts areas were successful this time around, whilst another was awarded £1,000 nearby in Bedfordshire.

Here are this month's lucky winners:

1. WD25 9SW, Watford

Before this month, WD25 9SW in The Pelhams had only ever won £10 on the People's Postcode Lottery.

The area was awarded this prize on 12 separate occasions.

However, on August 23, the Watford location was awarded £1,000 courtesy of a Postcode Places Trust draw.

2. SG5 4HX, Stotfold

SG5 4HX is a postcode at Roe Close, Stotfold.

The area has won £10 on seven occasions previously, and was awarded £1,000 on August 16.

The postcode won for a second time in August, on Thursday 28, winning a £5 M&S gift card.

3. WD6 1SP, Borehamwood

WD6 1SP in Oakwood Avenue, Borehamwood, won £1,000 on August 23.

Prior to this win, the most the location had ever received was £20, in November 2016.

The area has also won £10 on 19 separate occasions.
