A man from Letchworth has revealed the moment the victim of a stabbing in Western Way knocked on his door pleading for help.

Police responded to reports of a man being stabbed in Grange Estate at 10.46pm last night, with two 21-year-old men subsequently arrested on suspicion of GBH.

The victim was taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatened.

The Comet was contacted by a Western Way resident who helped the victim, who revealed the shocking scene outside his front door.

"Last night a man rang our doorbell and was shouting 'call the police, I'm bleeding, help!'," said the anonymous resident.

"Because the street lighting is so poor it was hard to see fully what was happening, except when my security lights lit up.

"The man had an obviously bad wound and was bleeding a lot. He said he'd been stabbed.

"I rang 999, and the ambulance arrived first, then the police, who after speaking to the man while the paramedics treated him forced entry into another property. 

"The police started searching and shortly afterwards a search helicopter was heard."

Western Way was cordoned off this morning as police investigated, but it reopened early this afternoon.
