Hatfield House played host to the seventh annual Dogs and Daffs event on Sunday, which was held in memory of former Hertfordshire Life editor and Comet reporter Richard Young, and raised vital funds for the Digswell Place Riding for the Disabled (RDA) group.

Richard, who died in October following a short illness, was a keen supporter of the dog show and always attended as a judge with a host of sponsors.

His partner, Sarah, and son, Louis, were present to judge the Mums and Mutts category on the day and to say a few words about Richard’s love of the event.

Along with the main dog show and the chance to walk in the grounds of Hatfield House, visitors were also treated to demonstrations of dog agility, scent work and flyball from a number of groups.

The event also marked 50 years of the Digswell Place RDA - a riding stable in Digswell Place, Welwyn Garden City, which is run by volunteers for adults and children with disabilities.
