Walkern's witch set for a London run after touring for a good spell

A new play based on the true story of one of the last witchcraft trials held in this country opens in London this week after a nationwide tour.
Jane Wenham: The Witch Of Walkern – inspired by events in the village more than 300 years ago – made its debut at Watford’s Palace Theatre in October before criss-crossing the country.
After being well-received, it has now returned closer to its source and opens tomorrow at Dalston’s Arcola Theatre, where it will be running until Saturday, January 30.
Reviewers have said there are echoes of Arthur Miller’s classic drama in Rebecca Lenkiewicz’s script which takes in religion, fear, intolerance and prejudice,
Just as Miller’s play connected events in 17th century Salem with the McCarthyite anti-communist witch hunts of 50s America, here a parallel is drawn with the treatment of immigrants today.
