The Sleeping Beauty

THE English Youth Ballet and local ballet students gave a most original production of The Sleeping Beauty at The Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage last week.

Updated to Duke, Duchess and relatives, from King, Queen and fairies, its modern approach to the story was fantastic.

At the christening of baby Aurora, Aunt Carabosse curses the child to die on her 16th birthday.

Aunt Lilac overrides the curse, prophesying that Aurora will fall asleep for 100 years and be woken by a prince.

Forward 16 years. It's 1912 and the prophecy comes true.

One hundred years later, Aurora, danced by Emma Lister, is woken by an Arctic exlorer, danced by Roddie Patrizo.

A beautifully presented show with good lighting and music, wonderful costumes, and the most amazing dance routines.
