This guy is certainly prolific: 29 is the third album from the Adams within 12 months, belying his relatively tender age.

Yet perhaps we can say that at least he took it a little easier here, ditching his sometime backing band The Cardinals, who made it onto previous efforts Cold Roses (May's double album) and Jacksonville City Nights (released September).

The eclectic country and alt-indie star reigns in his meandering songwriting here with a relatively meagre nine cuts on piano and acoustic guitar.

The good news is, it's arguably his best all year, with gorgeous, aching musical laments and a couple of rockers, including the title track. 4/5
