New Year's Eve celebrations aboard a luxury cruise ship are cut short as a 100ft wave strikes the vessel, turning it upside down and leaving the survivors, including Kurt Russel, struggling to reach the surface.

If you watch this film knowing that it is a throwback to 70s disaster movies full of two-dimensional characters, then the film works perfectly.

The problem is, of course, that this particular genre has died out and today's audiences want more from their movies.
