On the evidence of this debut, Plan B is set for big things.

Across 12 tracks, he paints a desperately depressing council estate reality through deft storytelling, grim poetry and highly effective acoustic backdrops.

This is a vivid, grim tour behind closed doors and down dark alleys - crack addicts, knife-wielding teens, underage sex, violence and broken homes.

But Plan B doesn't glorify the 'gansta' lifestyle, nor preach puritanicals. Single Sick 2 Def is an arresting tour de force, recounting a murder in reverse while using just his guitar to rack up the filmic tension.

This is aggressive, disturbing and eloquent stuff - a gruelling but scintillating listen. 5/5
