The latest release from Mod granddad Weller is special indeed - a 24-song valedictory gig at Ally Pally, ending the last tour, over two discs.

His live band are all top-notch, seasoned musicians and most of the tracks here differ little technically from the versions on record, save for the odd extended jam.

But a tantalising 11-minute version of Porcelain Gods, segueing into I Walk On Gilded Splinters, ends the first disc on a rock, soul and funk-infused high, after urgent versions of From The Floorboards Up and Peacock Suit.

Then disc two, with That's Entertainment and set-closer A Town Called Malice, tops it.

Weller continues to wow. 5/5
