New singer-songwriters rarely merit investigation, but it's worth taking note of this Canadian's chart-bound debut.

Nozuka - just 18 - has a throaty, soulful and versatile voice, acoustic guitar and poster-boy looks that mark him out as chart fodder immediately.

Add his acoustic guitar, occasional breaks into Justin Timberlake-style falsetto, and a collection of polished pop-soul, and you get an idea of his crossover appeal.

To nit-pick, some lyrical images are crude, but the summery strum-pop of Golden Train, simple blues-soul of Be Back Soon and acoustic intimacy of Supposed To Grow Old, as well as the hypnotic recent single After Tonight, make that a tiny concern. One to watch. 4/5
