BAFTA-nominated Channel 4 show 24 Hours in Police Custody started on Monday, with an hour-and-a-half special.

The first episode focused on the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire major crime unit investigating the death of Sharon Fade, 45, whose body was discovered in undergrowth in Long Meadow, Houghton Regis, last September.

The second episode on Monday will follow the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit as they tackle organised crime and counter terrorism – including an investigation into a Luton drugs line, nicknamed Kane Line.

Jackie Sebire, assistant chief constable for Bedfordshire Police, believes the show is important to highlight the force’s work.

“It’s really important for us to allow the public to see the kind of work we do and the challenges we face in Bedfordshire,” she said.

“By letting cameras in to the force, I hope we are showing how hard our officers work and the challenges they face when dealing with complex investigations.”

The series was produced by The Garden Productions which filmed the force for several weeks, with investigations throughout 2017 being featured.
