Although the former Thomas Alleyne Academy pupil clocks on at the Stevenage Novotel to help pay the bills, he’s shaping up to release his second album – and he’s still only 19.

Connor started making music in his junior school days, and since showcasing his first album at Hitchin’s Club 85 a year ago he’s been spreading his wings.

As well as performances closer to home, he’s been building up experience at London venues and is also winning fans further afield – with fans in Germany and the USA downloading his music.

It’s London where the first single from the new album – Home Is Where Your Heart Is – will be launched tomorrow at Bayou in London’s trendy Camden.

Connor said: “I had two or three songs left over from the first album and I really wanted to do something with them.

“I think on the new album my sound has definitely expanded, I’ve been listening to a lot of Nick Drake, Simon and Garfunkel, and even a bit of Ryan Adams – I think the lyrical content has matured.

“There’s one song, Sign Of The Times, which is about the run-up to last year, it’s basically about how ticking one little box could change so much.”

Sign Of The Times has been chosen as the first single and, like all the songs on the album, it’s self-penned. Connor also created the sleeve art himself.

Connor’s hoping to include Club 85 on the calendar when he sets up tour dates to promote the album – like his debut, it was recorded at Baldock’s London Road Studios, with the ‘amazing and supportive’ Max Hogwood on producing duties – which is scheduled for release in April.

“It’s a wonderful club and last year’s album launch was an amazing night,” he said.
