SOMETIMES David's Music Shop in Letchworth GC doesn't invite musicians along to play in store. These are the days when life seems meaningless and people wander the streets wondering what else they can do with their lives.
Well not next week.
David's have invited the Cosmic Rough Riders to belt out a few of their tracks and sign copies of their new album on Wednesday from 1pm.
The Glasgow-based riders, made up of Mark Brown, James Clifford and Stephen Fleming, have had a pretty steady career since forming in 1998, having notched up quite a few festival performances and four top forty hits.
They are appearing at David's two days after the launch of their 12-track album The Stars Look Different From Down Here and The Comet caught up with David's manager Andy to chat about them.
"I am a fan especially of their early albums. I've got a couple of copies of the new album and it's a real return to form, great if the weather's nice with great harmonies and lyrics," he said.
"They offered to play next Wednesday as they are doing a few around the country to promote the new album which is out on Monday. We have a good relationship with the label and try to get these gigs as often as possible.
Asked about the gig, Andy said: "They will probably do 20 to 30 minutes and then sign posters and copies of the new CD.
"Basically it's a great opportunity to see good up and coming artists, and sometimes even established ones, for nothing and get to meet them in person."
The Riders will be touring in June and will again be heading off to the festivals during the summer so it is best to catch them while you can.
