SPECTACULAR action, stunts, fierce battles and warhorses at full gallop are on the menu at Knebworth House on Sunday as the Knights of Royal England take up arms for a medieval jousting tournament.

The event guarantees all the romance and pageantry of days of yore, with a line-up of wild action, hand-to-hand combat and equestrian skill.

With more than 20 years experience, the Knights of Royal England will perform in an authentic jousting arena with specially-built props, equipment, flags, a royal box and medieval tents.

The horse riding and training has changed little over the past 800 years and modern jousting steeds will demonstrate the skills used in medieval warfare.

Other treats include a dinosaur trail with 72 life-size models of prehistoric creatures grazing and hunting among the rhododendrons of the seven-acre Wilderness Garden.

There is also Fort Knebworth - a popular adventure playground for four to 15- year-olds and a miniature railway suitable for all ages.

Tickets are £7 per person or a family ticket for four is £24.

Children under four get in free.
