Chicken Little (U) An animated Disney film that doesn't compete with Pixar's technical high-standard but a great story all the same. The film follows the barmy bantam who warns everyone in his town that the sky is falling in. Ridiculed at first, his fears soon prove well-founded. 4/5

* Zathura - A Space Adventure (PG) Two bored brothers in constant sibling turmoil are bickering at home one day when they uncover an old board game in the cellar. In Jumanji style, they are transported to outer space where they risk being stranded unless they complete the game successfully. 3/5

* Derailed (15) When Clive Owen meets Jennifer Aniston on a commuter train a trail of destruction begins as they start a dangerous affair. Founded on blackmail and intrigue, the film is let down by it's predictability. 2/5

* North Country (15) Charlize Theron plays an abused woman who moves back to her hometown with her two kids and few prospects. In a bid to find independence she starts work at the local coal mine, but her hopes are shattered when she suffers brutal harassment. The plight of women miners will make legal history. 3/5

* The Ice Harvest (15) A violent and twisted story involving a crooked lawyer and his friend. Their attempt to rip off the mob in an elaborate fraud is somewhat hampered by the arrival of a serious ice storm. John Cusack stars. 3/5

* Munich (15) A fictionalised account of real events, Munich is a quality thriller and a solid attempt at tackling a difficult subject. 4/5

* Rumour Has It (12A) Jennifer Aniston stars in this colourful film with inspirations from The Graduate, but it could be described as a bit of an icky romance lacking in any real substance. 3/5

* The New World (12A) Starring Colin Farrell and Christian Bale, The New World follows the settlement of the English in Virginia and their encounters with the native Americans and their beautiful Pocahontas. 4/5

* Bee Season (12A) A girl is excelling at spelling bees, meanwhile her family is collapsing around her. This is a film of spirituality starring Richard Gere and Juliette Binoche that is trying to do too much, culminating in a Hollywood-esque happy ending. 2/5

* Underworld: Evolution (18) A follow-up to 2003's hit-and-miss Underworld staring Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman. 2/5

* Fun With Dick and Jane (12A) Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni star in a remake of the 1977 George Segal and Jane Fonda film. Funny and with some interesting observations on modern culture but not as razor-sharp as the original. 3/5

* Get Rich or Die Tryin' (15) An Eminem-style film version of American rapper 50 Cent's life story, curiously lacking in rap and generally not very good. 1/5
