Having taken their native Down Under by storm last year, microphone-haired Andrew Stockdale finally leads this beast of a band to conquer new shores.
Thankfully, they all seem to have boned up on their Led Zep, Sabbath and AC/DC.
But Wolfmother are no covers band.
Opener Dimension sets the tone, threading a thick, buzzing guitar riff and Stockdale's shivery yowls to stupefying effect, later tracks adding swirling organ, guitar wig-outs and thunderous drums.
Taking the best elements of blues, space, psyche and balls-out rock and welding them into a competition-crushing onslaught across thirteen almost faultless tracks, Wolfmother have created one of the mightiest debuts this millennium. 5/5
