Surprising because this Penelope Cruz vehicle is the Spanish director's best film since his critically acclaimed All about My Mother (1999).
The film follows the ghost of a dead mother, who returns to her home town to resolve the situations she was unable to fix during her lifetime. Volver is a very good film which should appeal to a much wider audience than just Almodovar's loyal and diehard fans. 5/5
