NOT heard from since 2002's Blue Swan Orchestra, Californians Shon Sullivan and Bryan Bos get round to releasing this, their second indie-pop oeuvre.

As former compadres of the late cult icon Elliot Smith, and having made up parts of Weezer's touring band and played with Eels, Johnny Marr and Neil Finn among others, it's not surprising that frontman Sullivan has such an evident ear for gently rolling indie soundscapes.

Opener Ice Breaker Blues has a pleasingly lackadaisical underpinning, with sighing backing vocal and meandering pace, and Smith et al's influences are pretty evident throughout.

But despite the downbeat-cum-sunny-California set pieces, most tunes simply don't stick in the mind. ***
