Fallout take their art seriously, but thankfully it is far from a pretentiously unlistenable mess.

There is no one song that defines their sound; some beguilingly varied songwriting creates mellow, intense, raging and choral moments.

Latest single Washout is a DNA-spliced Mercury Rev/Super Furry Animals hybrid, while Before The Night Goes whisks you away on violin and pulsing bass before building to a cacophonic head.

After keeping some like-minded company supporting leftfield-indie acts, now is the time for Fallout to show its true (multi) colours. 3/5
