This is the third attempt by ESP to break into the nation's conscience, having so far failed in said mission despite early critical acclaim, a Mercury Prize nomination and success with their 'other' band, Brakes.
Nevertheless, the brothers White - the glue holding both bands together - don't give up easily. Pleasantly wobbly, Grandaddy-style keys mixed with a fat, poppy guitar riff makes lead single If That's The Case, Then I Don't Know one of the album's highlights.
The rest plays with various styles but many lack standout melodies, revealing flat vocals instead. They haven't hit the jackpot here, but there are some great moments. 3/5
