DAN BROWN'S novel makes it to the big screen and although the film version is far superior to its rather ridiculous parent, it is still a rather mindless affair.

Even without the aid of reading the book beforehand the action is predictable and a disappointment, and it doesn't presume that its audience wants to think about what they are watching.

The Da Vinci Code falls short of those two vital ingredients of mystery/chase movies - suspense and excitement.
