Open air cinema will return to Hitchin Lavender this summer with this year’s programme including a series of cult films as well as favourites Dirty Dancing and Top Gun.

Sundown Cinema has announced the movies it will be screening outdoors at Hitchin Lavender.

This will be the company’s sixth season at Cadwell Farm and it will be returning with more films than ever.

The Sundown season at Hitchin Lavender will kick off with a series of cult films on Wednesdays in June.

Cool vampire horror flick The Lost Boys (15), starring Corey Feldman and Kiefer Sutherland, will open the outdoor programme on June 13.

Utilising one of Sundown Cinema’s digital screens, the film will start before dark at 8pm.

Harrison Ford can be seen on the big screen a week later as replicant hunter Deckard when Ridley Scott’s game-changing sci-fi classic Blade Runner (15) is shown on June 20.

Arnold Schwarzenegger said he’d “be back” and Arnie fans can watch James Cameron’s The Terminator (15) at Sundown Cinema in Hitchin on Wednesday, June 27.

Disguised as a human, a cyborg assassin known as a Terminator (Schwarzenegger) travels from 2029 to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton).

Sent to protect Sarah is Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn).

The Terminator is also part of Sundown Cinema’s series of cult films showing at Hitchin Lavender in 2018.

Sundown Cinema returns to Hitchin Lavender in August with Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge! starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor on Monday, August 13.

Julia Roberts and Richard Gere star in Pretty Woman (15), one of the 90’s best-loved feel-good films, which can be seen at the Arlesey Road venue on Thursday, August 16.

If you “feel the need, the need for speed” fly over to Hitchin Lavender, Ickleford, on Friday, August 17 for Tom Cruise et al in Top Gun.

Gates open at 7.30pm, with the film starting at 9pm.

It wouldn’t be summer without an open air screening of Dirty Dancing (15) at Hitchin Lavender.

And fans of Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey can enjoy this 80s classic on Saturday, August 18.

You can also see Dirty Dancing and Top Gun at The House, Shuttleworth, this summer.

Top Gun will be screened on Friday, June 29 at the Old Warden venue with Dirty Dancing fans having the time of their lives the following night, Saturday, June 30.
