There’s one universal truth about becoming a successful comedian – you have to start somewhere.

Every superstar on the circuit who can sell out a stadium has had to pay their dues filling open spots at clubs up and down the country, learning their trade – how to work a room, survive put downs, build a set and keep coming back for more.

The first step on that path could be starting for some brave souls in Hitchin on Friday, April 8 – because that’s the night set aside for the Lastminute Comedy Club’s annual New Comedian Of The Year showcase.

The club’s kindly compere Paul B. Edwards, left, is sure to be protective of the little comedy chicks stepping up on stage for the first time, and he’s promising a varied selection of acts on the night.

You can catch the show at the Woodside Hall in Walsworth Road, Hitchin, with doors opening at 7.30pm. It’s £8 for members, £10 for non-members and you can find out more at www.lastminutecomedy.com.
