Brit Award-winning Human singer Rag’n’Bone Man has been confirmed as the first headliner for Hertfordshire music festival Standon Calling 2019.

The music and arts festival will take over Standon Lordship in the Hertfordshire countryside from Thursday, July 25 to Sunday, July 28, 2019.

Organisers have today made the first official Standon Calling 2019 line-up announcement, with Rag’n’Bone Man returning to headline the boutique event next summer on the Friday night.

One of the most recognisable voices in pop, Rag’n’Bone Man has risen through the ranks to become a true chart-conquering force.

Real name Rory Graham, the soul-pop bluesman last played Standon Calling near Stevenage and Ware in 2016.

Since then he has crossed over into the mainstream thanks to breakthrough anthem Human, which reached number two in the UK singles charts.

The gospel-inspired song won a Brit Award in 2018 for British Single of the Year, and the official video for Human has had an astonishing 690,000,000 views on YouTube.

He’s looking forward to returning to the fields of Standon on Friday, July 26.

Talking about his headline slot in 2019, Rag’n’Bone Man said: “Standon Calling has been one of those festivals I’ll always tell my mates to go to because the vibe is always great, so I’m pretty hyped to be playing it again next year.”

Rag’n’Bone Man’s 2017 debut album, also titled Human, topped the charts and has sold more than one million copies in the UK.

Excited to reveal Rag’n’Bone Man as the first headliner for next year, Standon Calling founder and festival director Alex Trenchard said: “It’s been phenomenal seeing the rise of Rag’n’Bone Man over recent years.

“He’s someone who has already graced our stages twice on his way to becoming one of the standout figures in pop, not only in the UK but around the world.

“Every year when we ask Standon festival-goers who they’d like to see play, he’s always up there at the top, so we’re delighted to be welcoming him back to headline the Friday night, in what’s sure to be a special singalong moment.”

Paloma Faith, Hertford singer-songwriter George Ezra and Roxy Music legend Bryan Ferry headlined the festival this summer.
