Mixing up 80s pop with 60s garage and straight-up rock, Stevenage four-piece Decades Apart are coming to Hitchin’s newest music venue.

Formed in 2010 by guitarist and singer-songwriter Carl Dewson, the band are simply doing their own thing - and coming up with a sound that leaps from REM to Tom Petty to The Kinks.

Carl said he is influenced by everything from Queen, The Beatles, Manic Street Preachers and punk and new wave. “It’s just whatever grabs me,” he said.

The band, who range from late teens to late 40s, were featured on BBC Introducing in the summer and will be in the studio recording an EP this autumn.

See them at The Albert this Friday night where entry is free.
