NORWEGIAN Silje Nes has painstakingly put together her first opus over three years, recording as she embarked on a seemingly whimsical journey of discovery through a battery of instruments and found objects she liked the sound of.
Adding her breathy, sweetly innocent vocals into the self-recorded mix, Silje has produced a beguiling album that rewards with repeated listens - ironic given each was recorded as she improvised her way through quirky musical sprawls with one ear on the underlying melody. Looped samples build and sit alongside intimate, picked guitars, playfully plonky xylophone, and music-box recorder.
Here, Silje is Alice, delicately spinning her own Wonderland and making an enchanting, rewarding listen.
