Manchester five-piece Polytechnic have already enjoyed the endorsement of respected indie types, through support slots for The Young Knives, The Shins and ex-Suede man Brett Anderson among others. This shouldn't disappoint either, Down Til Dawn proffering all sorts of jangly 80s-inspired indie. With Dylan Giles' quirky vocals - as pleasant as a slightly nasal whine can get - and a nifty line in whimsical but chirpily melody (think Clap Your Hands Say Yeah sticking to more mainstream indie territory), Polytechnic should be onto a surefire winner. 4/5
