THE family of a Hitchin-based musician have organised a concert in his memory.
The concert will honour John Myatt, who passed away, aged 80, in May last year, and takes place at Blythburgh Church in Suffolk, on Saturday, February 4.
John, who spent the last 25 years of his life between Suffolk and Hitchin, where he ran John Myatt Woodwind in Nightingale Road, formed the North Hertfordshire Youth Wind Band, and was also chairman of Hitchin Concert Orchestra.
Featuring the specially formed orchestra the John Myatt Memorial Orchestra, which is made up of friends and ex-colleagues of John, the evening’s programme is made up of three of John’s favourite works – the Bach Orchestral Suite no 1 in C Major, the Strauss Serenade for Winds, and Mahler’s 5th Symphony.
Tickets for the performance, which starts at 7pm, are not required and admission is free.
