Rumpled and renowned master of ceremonies at many a comedy gig Arthur Smith is heading back to Hitchin to dole out another helping of slightly shambolic fun.

The pride of Balham was in town in November to headline a Labour Party comedy fundraiser, and on Thursday, February 19, he’ll be centre stage again at the monthly Mostly Comedy showcase at the town’s Market Theatre.

He may be best known for his appearances on BBC’s Grumpy Old Men and panel shows galore, but he’s also an acclaimed playwright, an Edinburgh Festival fixture and his two shows based on his admiration for the songs of Leonard Cohen were hailed by critics as classics of their kind.

Also on the bill will be Jay Cowle, a finalist in Radio 4’s New Act of the Year competition in 2013 who is building his reputation on the circuit.

Tickets are £9.50, and you can book yours in advance at www.mostlycomedy.co.uk.
