A landlord is celebrating nine years at a popular music venue with a large double.

Ron Piper of The Sir John Barleycorn in Hitchin hosts regular gigs ranging from rock and pop to jazz and blues - and with an anniversary to celebrate has organised two evenings of music this weekend.

Accomplished guitarist Andy Skelton who kicked off the pub’s music nights nine years ago has been invited back on Friday. Andy has a vast music repertoire ranging from James Taylor to Jimi Hendrix and has recorded with Dolly Parton, Roger Taylor and The Detroit Emeralds among many.

Then on Saturday Blocks And The Blues Soulstations will be up for a party with their The Commitments and Blues Brothers covers as well as a catalogue of ‘60s soul.

Both events are free from around 8pm.
