The name of Leonard Cohen is known the world over, the name of Keith James less so.

But while Leonard has become a byword for lugubrious songs which tackle life’s trials and tribulations thanks to a stop start career that dates back to the 1960s, Keith has been making a name for himself as something more than a tribute act mimicking the Montreal misery.

And you can admire his artistry and Leonard’s iconic songs in one package at Letchworth Arts Centre next Friday, May 15.

Keith will perform a selection of songs written and performed by the incomparable singer and songwriter, including Hallelujah, Suzanne, Sisters Of Mercy and Famous Blue Raincoat work.

He has been picking through Cohen’s catalogue for many years, cultivating a unique sound that is stripped back, emotive and highly engaging, earning him praise from The Guardian who dubbed him “the UK’s most celebrated and evocative interpreter of golden music.”

Arts centre manager Maria Iredale said: “Keith is not your average tribute act – he’s an incredible musician and a passionate performer.

“If you’re a Leonard Cohen fan, or you’d like to discover his music, then this is the show for you.“
