THE Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage, played host last week to The Park Avenue Entertainment group of New York, and other Parisian showmen, to give us a night of French magic.

Inspired by the 19th century music hall and the artistic night life of Paris, an unbelievable two hours of dance, acrobatics, juggling, song and the most breathtaking aerial ballet, using just a length of fabric, held the audience spellbound. All this plus the fabulous Can Can!

At the beginning I was a little disappointed by the lack of stage props but there was a good backdrop to give the feel of nighttime Paris and I was soon drawn into the show by the energetic dancers, the costumes and the wonderful dance routines.

These were interspersed with the other acts including an amazing juggling hat thrower who proceeded along the stage and off into the audience rows still casting the hats out boomerang style.

This was a fast slick show culminating in the exuberant, high kicking Can Can that left us all wanting more.
