FRESH from releasing their debut album Box of a Billion Lights, The October Game are headlining The Wide Awake Club night at Shorty's Sports Bar in Hitchin tonight (Thursday) along with local favourites Violet Martinez.
Having set up the label with a few of their friends as a "vehicle through which to release the music we write and produce in a friendly, positive and creative environment", the band, formerly under the name of Insomnia, are now touring to promote their new CD.
The band said: "We are now out playing gigs complemented by live drummer Pete Hedley, in order to promote the album through taking a new spin on the recorded songs to the stage.
"People have responded really well to the energy and atmosphere of the live performances and the album has been getting some really good reviews too, so it's great to see both sides of what we do being appreciated by people."
Playing alongside The October Game are Letchworth GC's very own bubblegum exponents Violet Martinez.
Here's what The October Game had to say about their co-performers:

"We've not played alongside Violet Martinez before but we have seen them play on many occasions and they are a great band with insanely catchy tunes, who always give extremely energised and passionate live performances, so we are really looking forward to the gig with them at The Wide Awake Club.
"The aim [of the gig] is to take our music to as many people as possible. We want to just keep getting better as a live band and as songwriters and producers, to keep constantly inspired and in control of what we do."
Box of a Billion Lights is out now through the band's own independent label Carmandie Records and is available from CD Heaven in Hitchin or online at www.carmandierecords.co.uk
The gig at Shorty's starts at 7pm.
