This, as was said at the time, was the war to end all wars - but the end of World War I is quite extraordinary.
Writer Nicholas Best has looked at the events leading to the armistice from the generals' headquarters to trenches. He gives a vivid picture of the events leading up to the outbreak of peace and the last real battle involving the British Tommy when Mons was recaptured - the place, ironically, from where the Army retreated in 1914.
It's an interesting examination of those last dark days 90 years ago. 3/5
