ABSTRACT paintings will be on display in Hitchin over the next two months.
Work by David Lowther will be on show at Hitchin Museum from Saturday, March 10.
The artist’s latest paintings are based around open and closed forms, often doors and windows, and is essentially concerned with creating balance and imbalance through the use of heightened colour in abstracted compositions. Ambiguous shapes intrude, block out, float across, enclose and contrast each other on an animated surface of differing marks and gestures.
David, who has taught art in Bedfordshire for 25 years, will also be holding a question and answer session on March 17, from 10am to midday.
The exhibition, which is free to attend, is open daily except Wednesdays and Sundays until April 21.
