AN AUTHOR who studied physics at Cambridge will be unravelling the story behind a scientific discovery considered the most important for 50 years.

Dr Nicholas Mee will be signing copies of his new book Higgs Force – Cosmic Symmetry Shattered when he visits David’s Bookshop in Letchworth GC next weekend.

Dr Mee, who received a doctorate in theoretical particle physics from the University of Cambridge, will be sharing his knowledge of the Higgs particle, a symmetry-breaking force which was discovered last July.

The story starts with the ideas of the Greek philosophers over two thousand years ago, taking readers on a journey through many of the most important scientific discoveries in history before bringing things right up to date with the discovery of the Higgs particle.

Dr Mee, who runs his own software company and is a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, will be signing copies of Higgs Force – Cosmic Symmetry Shattered at the bookshop in Eastcheap from 11am on Saturday, February 23.
