A CONTEMPORARY black comedy, A Brief History of Helen of Troy, will be staged at The Queen Mother Theatre in Hitchin.
This Mark Shultz play tells the tale of Charlotte, an unhappy adolescent whose mother, Helen, has just died.
In a series of short scenes, Charlotte has one-on-one encounters with family, friends and acquaintances that border on the surreal but paint a picture of a shy girl coming to terms with life and, inevitably, death.
Helen of Troy is only present in the play in the loosest sense as Charlotte is given a school assignment on the subject and her mother's life had similarities to the Greek mythological figure.
The play, which is suitable for over 15s only, takes place from Thursday to Saturday, January 24-26, and starts at 7.45pm each evening.
Tickets, at £7, are available from the box office on 01462 455166.
