The real-life Simon & Garfunkel famously didn’t get on that well – pint-sized Paul was the talent of the twosome, and fuzzy-haired warbler Art fumed that he was treated like glorified session singer.

They split in acrimonious circumstances, with Paul building a stellar career and Art also clocking up some respectable hits, but even when they got back together for moneyspinning reunions it was clear that there was still tension in the air.

But along the way they created some of the best-loved songs of the 1960s and you can enjoy those timeless tunes performed by a pair with a much warmer relationship when tribute twosome The Sounds of Simon come to Letchworth on Saturday.

The duo will play classics such as Mrs Robinson, The Sound Of Silence and Bridge Over Troubled Water in the show, interspersed with video clips and stories inspired by the duo’s career.

Letchworth Arts Centre manager Maria Iredale said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing the show – these performers are excellent musicians, which makes the difference between seeing a band on a night out and having a great night out with wonderful songs, music and memories.”

Hits on the playlist run from Hey Schoolgirl, released in 1957 when they were known as Tom and Jerry, all the way through to the hits from the Paul Simon’s solo carerr, including the Graceland album and hits like Late In The Evening and Fifty Ways To Leave Your Lover.

Tickets are £12, (£10 concessions). Doors open at 7pm for 7.30pm start. Find out more and book online at www.letchwortharts.org or call 01462 670788.
