When Grace Maynard directed Twelfth Night for last year’s Shakespeare Schools Festival she decided that she wanted to be on stage, too – and give her take on key character Viola.

“Playing Viola is a dream because she is one of Shakespeare’s powerful female leads who does more than just fall in love,” she says.

“I love her determination and wit. In disguise, she has the opportunity to be liberated from gender stereotypes and develop a personality, unlike many other female roles of the time.”

The Lytton Players production runs from Wednesday, November 18, to the following Saturday at the company’s Vardon Road headquarters.

Performances start at 7.45pm and tickets are £8.50 with £6 concessions on offer for the Wednesday and Thursday shows.
