Marzipan maggots and edible blood – it’s not the sort of recipe that would win Mary Berry’s approval on The Great British Bake-Off.

Food artist Miss Cakehead is bringing Cakeageddon to Letchworth for a Hallowe’en frightfest, creating the world’s first edible horror farm at Standalone Farm.

The Cakeageddon concept combines live horror action with cake, and Miss Cakehead’s events are hotly anticipated by her freaky followers.

The mistress of macabre will take over the family farm venue from Wednesday, October 29, to Friday, November 1.

A series of special night-time events aimed strictly at older teenagers and adults will feature large-scale cake installations for those with strong stomachs.

Miss Cakehead said: “Red Riding Hood chasing you through the woods and the remains of the three slaughtered little pigs strung up and dripping ‘blood’ are just some of the cake treats in store. It’s a twisted fairy tale for your taste buds.”

Miss Cakehead also plans a new extreme cake shop based at Standalone Farm, which can be visited without having to enter the farm, and a pop-up shop in London.

Cakeageddon is part of Letchworth’s Fire and Fright Festival which incorporates film, installations, workshops, poetry, short stories and more.

Cakeageddon tours will be held at night, and the family farm attraction will still be open for families and younger guests during the day, with all the scary bits safely tucked away. Cakeageddon tours start from 7pm to 9.30pm on the Wednesday night with tickets costing £15, or £10 if you book early.
