The landmark date won’t fall until January next year – but Elvis fans are already gearing up for celebrations to mark what would have been the King’s 80th birthday.

Getting in early is a touring production from The Elvis Years which will be shaking the stage at Stevenage’s Gordon Craig Theatre on Sunday night as it criss-crosses the country.

The show tells the familiar ups and downs of the Elvis life story and features acclaimed Presley tribute performer Mario Kombou and is led by Ivor Novello award-winning musical director David Mackay.

Mario said: “We wanted to do something special to mark this special birthday and what better way than to get out there and bring the story of his life to 80 different stages across the country.”

Authentic costumes and rare film footage are all part of the mix, as well as more than 50 classic hits and some lesser-known songs from the King’s copious catalogue.
