Thousands of festival-goers converged on woodland between Baldock and Royston for a four-day electronic music extravaganza.

The Farr Festival returned to Bygrave Woods in the Hertfordshire countryside on the edge of Newnham from Thursday to Sunday.

The electronic dance music event’s ninth edition was bathed in glorious sunshine over the weekend – with the scorching weather even forcing organisers to cancel a planned ‘Midnight Runners Rave Run’ on Saturday afternoon due to the heat.

Among the multitude of DJs appearing over the weekend was Shy FX on the Friday night, before multi-instrumentalist Tom Misch joined proceedings with a live performance in The Factory.

Mount Kimbie also performed in the festival’s main arena, which comprised of 52 shipping containers arranged into a rectangle and accommodating 2,500 revellers.

Maribou State and Benji B played sets in The Factory on the Saturday – after fans had watched England beat Sweden in the World Cup quarter-finals.

A post on the festival’s Facebook page read: “Saturday at Farr Festival 2018 was our most euphoric yet – special shouts to Dixon and Gerd Janson at The Shack, Maribou State and Benji B at the Factory, Roman Flugel and Lena Willikens in the woods and Galcher Lustwerk, Claro Intelecto, DJ Richard, Ramjac Corporation at Campfire Headphase.”

Hunee and Antal were among Sunday’s main acts.

Organisers later posted a statement on the Farr Festival website saying: “Wow! What a scorcher! After months of hard work, we are in total awe of what went down at Farr Festival 2018 in Bygrave Woods.

“Thank you all so much for making this edition our best yet!

“Farr Festival 2018 was a truly remarkable weekend in every sense.

“Plus let’s not forget England won, the weather was exceptional and everyone brought their A-game to the festival.”
