DVD Review: Kick-Ass (15)

Inspired by a brain diet of comics, computer games and TV, a dorky school kid dons a green and yellow ninja outfit and takes on the ‘bad guys’ in this fabulous punk take on the superhero genre.

Looking for adventure, hero-worship and the chance to get laid, his cack-handed exploits as Kick Ass are soon all over the internet, inspiring other masked avengers to join his crusade.

Unhinged ex-cop turned wannabe-batman Big Daddy and his super-fighting-machine 12-year-old daughter Hit Girl, as well as teenage loser Red Mist get mixed up in the mayhem unleashed on the criminal underworld.

Foul-mouthed, mega-violent and very funny - this is one of the standout films of 2010.
