This unnamed supergroup is the latest muse for creative pinball Damon Albarn, he of Blur/Gorillaz fame, who has banded together two previous collaborators and former Clash bassist Simonon.

It's also produced by underground wunderkind Danger Mouse - one half of Gnarls Barkley. So it's pretty much great by default, and doesn't disappoint. Stylistically, it won't surprise those who have been following Albarn's musical exploits over recent years, particularly his flirtation with squelchy electro and beats.

Current single Herculean is immaculate, ethereal and unassuming - yet addictive.

It's a good barometer for the rest of the album, which sneaks in through the back door of the brain with a cunning intensity. 4/5
