AFTER the death of the girl he loves, an American high-school loner tries to find out who the murderer was and why the girl was killed.

The beauty of Brick is that it transposes the hardboiled detective writings of Dashiell Hammett to the American high school but is neither in awe of the genre nor shows it too much respect.

It is honest filmmaking without all the polish.

A wonderful film and, what's more, it is director Rian Johnson's debut feature.
