Folk fans have the chance to see one of the great entertainers of the genre next month.

BAFTA nominee and Gold Award winner at the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters, Richard Dignance is bringing his comedy-infused show to Hitchin Folk Club.

Club organiser Maureen Jones said: “He’s known as one of the great folk entertainers of the 70s and 80s. He has supported Steve Martin in the USA, Robin Williams at the London Palladium and is included in The Virgin Anthology of Songwriters for his important contribution to British comedy songwriting.

“When presented with the Gold Award he was described as someone who for half a century has travelled the world with just a guitar and an immense collection of stories gathered through his own experiences. That kind of says it all.”

The show takes place on Sunday December 9 at The Sun Hotel on Sun Street, Hitchin. An all ticket event, they can be bought at 13 for members and 15 non-members from goodmusic@hitchinfolkclub.co.uk
